Your Name: Jingwen Zhang

Your Role at OspreyData: Senior Software Engineer

Brief description of your training, education, experience:

Jingwen has a Bachelor of Engineering from Wuhan University of Technology in China, and a Masters in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota. While at Minnesota, she worked with Professor Loren Terveen on various recommender systems, including Group Lens and a Fashion Recommender.  

After her graduation, Jingwen started to work as a Human Computer Interaction research lab manager and programmer at the University of California, Irvine with Professor Judy Olson and Gary Olson. She worked on research projects Collaboration Success Wizard, DocuViz, Novox and so on. She made a few publications in conferences such as HCI, iConference. She also programmed the app of DocuViz, Novox and managing the Collaboration Success Wizard survey implementation and management. Before joining OspreyData, Jingwen worked as a full-stack software engineer in a start-up, where she implemented web applications of a SaaS system involving eCommerce, customer management, automated production systems.

Now at OspreyData, Jingwen works on building a platform to optimize production and predict events for equipment in the oil and gas industry. Working across the entire stack to build whatever is in need. 

How long have you been with OspreyData?: I joined OspreyData over two years ago.

What’s your favorite thing about working at OspreyData?: Working at a start-up, we are always on the way of learning something new. We have the opportunities to work on everything and exposure to the new cutting edge technology. 

What are 3 words you’d use to describe OspreyData?: Innovative, Energetic, Inspiring

What is your favorite hobby or hobbies?: Traveling, hiking, and tennis

If you could visit anywhere in the world you’ve never been, where would you go?: I want to go to Austria to visit the fairytale village Hallstatt and go to a concert at Wiener Musikverein.

If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?: Go to Austria
